MT3D license and price updates

As I noted in "MT 3.0 Licensing Guide": "Prices stated are not guaranteed and subject to change at any time." They have. Based on feedback from MT's users, Six Apart has made some significant changes to MT3D's to its pricing schedule and its licenses, just two days after MT3D's release.

Here's what the new MT3D Personal licensing looks like:

For users who wish to add authors/weblogs to their MT3D Personal License, the "Personal Edition Add-On" will allow you to add 1 weblog and 1 author to your Personal Edition license for $9.95.

The following changes have been made to MT3D's Personal License:

1) The term "Author" has been redefined:

Original license:

"Author" means one individual with a unique login name generated by the Software via the "Add/Edit Weblog Authors" function of the Software. The sharing of an individual login name for more than one person is prohibited.

New license:

"Author" means one individual with a unique login name generated by the Software via the "Add/Edit Weblog Authors" function of the Software who has logged in within the prior 90 days. The sharing of an individual login name for more than one person is prohibited.

2) The term "Weblog" has been redefined:

Original license:

"Weblog" means a single Web site for publishing content created by individuals, as generated by the Software via the "Create New Weblog" function of the Software.

New license:

"Weblog" means a single Web site viewable at a single URL (Uniform Resource Locator), consisting of one or more weblogs as generated by the Software via the "Create New Weblog" function of the Software.

3) "Powered by Movable Type" links now required on each site, rather than on "every page" of a web site. (I had asked exactly how users were supposed to put an operable Movable Type link on a style sheet page - Anil Dash heard me and responded. Thanks, Anil!!)

Original license:

A Little Credit. You must maintain, on every page generated by the Software, an operable link to [http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/[(http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/), with the link text "Powered by Movable Type", as specified by Six Apart, unless otherwise stated in the terms included with your copy of the Software.

4) Single CPU restriction removed from license:

Original license:

Making Copies. You may install the Software on only one (1) computer or server having a single CPU. You may make one (1) copy of the Software in any machine readable form solely for back-up purposes, provided you reproduce the Software in its original form and with all proprietary notices on the back-up copy.

Items #1 and #2 above have also been reflected in the Commercial License as well.
